You gotta LOVE a store that posts on it’s doors that  PETS ARE WELCOME !

HW HOME in Cherry Creek North in Denver is a furniture store that does just that. I am in the market for a sofa and I have to say the service is warm and friendly as well as informative. What else would you expect of an establishment that says it allows pets on the entrance door ?

If you are in the market for some furniture pay them a visit. If not just drop in and look around they have some cool things in there.

I attended a fundraiser last night called Project Ruff Way. It was held in The Mile High Station which was a wonderful venue for this event. (History:
Located adjacent to the new Invesco Field at Mile High, the Mile High Station occupies the former Midwest Steel and Ironworks building. The original building dates back to the turn of the century (1897). At that time the building was a Denver landmark employing hundreds of Ironworkers and craftsmen.  http://www.milehighstation.com/home.htm )

This event was to benefit the Bow Wow Buddy Foundation. http://www.bowwowbuddies.com/

The mission of the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation is to promote the health and welfare of dogs worldwide by focusing on finding foster and lifetime homes for unwanted dogs, promoting humane education and treatment, and investing in research and treatment for dogs devastated by illness and disease.

I met Mike and Jake,a yellow Lab ( a.k.a., that soft dog ) while I was there and learned of their incredible story and their involvement with the Colorado State University Animal Cancer Center, who are all featured in this photo.Jake was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and given 3 months to live. Through the efforts of the CSU Animal Cancer Center and Mike’s TLC Jake is still with us AND CANCER FREE ! Bravo to all involved in that miracle !

To see Jake’s journey over the past year go to his blog. It’s informative AND entertaining. That Jake gets around.   www.thatsoftdog.blogspot.com

So I can’t say enough about the CSU Animal Cancer Center. www.csuanimalcancercenter.org Everybody I know that has had to bring their dog to them has had nothing but praise for this facility. This is where some of the money you donate to Bow Wow Buddies goes.

The event had good food and drinks. There was a silent auction with lots of good canine and people goodies.

The runway show included singing , dancing And what we all came to see the canines from Table Mountain Animal Center who walked the runway and were up for adoption. All the dogs did really well for their first time walking a runway.

Table Mountain Animal Center located in Golden, is about to move into a new facility and get a new name, Foothills Animal Shelter. www.tmac4pets.org

TMAC is the second largest animal shelter in the Denver metro area, caring for 10,000 animals each year. They do not turn away any animal in need. So as you can imagine they need your donations.

All in all it was a FUN evening. I attended the event with Carrie Bowlus, the Denver Coordinator for HABIC ( Human Animal Bond in Colorado / CSU). http://www.habic.cahs.colostate.edu/ They train Human Animal Therapy Teams that serve Schools, Hospitals, Long-term Care Patients and Hospice.  You can find out more about Carrie on her website www.wonderdogllc.com

Self Service Dog Wash

HERE’S HOW EASY IT IS TO GIVE-A-DOG-A-BATH
First, provide the dog.
We’ll then provide you with all of the products you need to give your pooch one seriously deluxe bath. Our staff of pet-lovers is friendly and knowledgeable, on hand to give you grooming tips and to guide you through the simple process.

What’s more, our bathing suites provide a comfortable, semi-private environment to wash your dog.

Get a raise.
It’s not easy bending over the tub, breaking your back while getting soap out of your pooch’s ears. Well, here at The Wag Shop, we have raised tubs. Problem solved. Grooming tables come with slip-resistant stairs, giving easy access to those colossal canines. And there are THREE stalls available on a walk-in basis.

Clean as a whistle.
At The Wag Shop we’re sticklers for hygiene. Each tub is cleaned and disinfected after each use with a germicidal anti-bacterial cleaning solution. That makes the whole experience a germ-free environment for you and your dog.

First Come, First Serve.
All self-serve tubs are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Saturday’s are the busiest day for the self-serve dog wash. Because weekend’s are a time to get chores done, like washing the dog. To accommodate everyone, we have created a few courtesy policies for the weekend.
Time Limit: On Saturday we have a 30 – 45 minute time limit per dog. This allows everyone a chance to get their dog clean.
Towel Limit: We have a three towel limit on the weekend. If you need more than the two towels we provide on the weekend, you might want to bring a few from home or you can pay $2 extra for each additional towel.

Keep in mind, we are now open Monday.
WHAT’S THE CHARGE?
A basic self-serve bath is $10 – $16 and is based on the size of your dog, to make the prices appropriate to the amount of water, shampoo and tub time needed for each customer.

This includes our basic shampoo & conditioner, two towels, grooming tools, a heatless blow dryer, a variety of pet colognes and a waterproof apron (the bath’s for the dog, not you).
